My Mom Was Holding Out on Me BIG TIME!

Turning one has opened my eyes to a few things that my mom has been withholding from me.
Wonderful, marvelous things.
Things that I really love and enjoy and want as a part of my daily life.
I can't figure out why in sam hill I haven't had these before!
The first is:

CAKE!
Um...Yum? It's soft and ooeygooey and chocolatey and sweet and I had one just for me!  I took my time at first.  You see, sometimes mom puts things on my tray that aren't so hot-so (vegetables) and expects me to just scarf them down with a smile.  I've learned to sample.  But lemme tell you, I only needed a small sampling of the cake to know it was my kinda deal.  Love it love it love it.  I've been looking around the house for more of this cake stuff but I haven't found any.
The second thing mom has been holding out on is:

KIDS!
I had a couple of kids come to my big birthday bash and I was enthralled.  Mesmerized.  In love.  I laughed so hard!  I don't know why I don't have any of these kids at my house?  Where is my mom keeping them?  Is she hiding them somewhere?  I mean I made it clear as day I enjoyed playing with kids!  I mean, mom is "fun" and "nice"  and I give her big points for trying as hard as she does... but she's a mom.  And moms just aren't as cool as other kiddo-ma-griddo-me-diddo heads.  Colton especially had me going.  That Colton. *shakes head and slaps kneee* He cracks me up.  Sigh.  So- Mom?  If you are reading this?  Line up a couple play dates for me will ya?  Come on.  Get on the horn, babe.

The last thing (I can think of) that mom has only recently shared with me is:

POPSICLES.
They feel oh so good on my teeth and come in oh so many flavors.  I would gladly opt for popsicles over any mushed carrots or sweet potatoes or even toast (my new fave).  Soon I'll be able to hold my own stick and there will be no stopping me then.

I am sure my mom has good reasons for holding out on me.
I just can't think of any.
Besides she wanted more for herself.

I'm One!

Today was my BIRTHDAY!
ner ner ner ner NER ner ner!
I made it a GOOD ONE!
ner ner ner ner NER ner ner!
That's ME!  Ha ha ha!  Look!  I had socks on my HANDS!  That's silly.

This is me perfecting the "Poulsen Think Look"  I get from Grandpa Poulsen.

Okay.  That's all I know of that song.  Cut me some slack, I'm only one.
I can't believe I'm a year old.  It's gone so fast.
At least that's what my mom keeps saying- and if she says it than it has got to be true.
There are lots of things that I do now that I am one that I didn't do when I was, let's say, a "baby."
I had a fat bald stage that lasted about 11 and a half months.  I don't talk about it much.

For instance:
For both of my naps AND at bed time- I just laid down and went to bed.  No tears.  No whining.  I just faced the music, got comfy, and went to sleep.  I mean, I KNOW I'll feel better when I wake up and to level with you - I quite enjoy my little siestas.  And, as the mature toddler I am, I see no point in throwing fits over them.
There is also the fact that I am in size 5 didies starting today.  5 seems like a big round number.  And that's the size I need to cover my big round booty.
As a 1 year old I can successfully stand on my own.  I just pop up sometimes and look around with a big smile on my face.  Mom and Dad get a kick out of it.  Wait till I walk for them.  They'll go bezerk.
Also today,  I took my toast with jam.  That seemed very adult at the time and, indeed, still does.

It is good to be one.
It is good to be the King Kole.
And, Mom, I just want you to know that I will always be your baby and I will always love to snuggle and I will always want you to hold me and make me feel better.  Mmmkay?

Peace,
Koley
(I'm thinking of dropping the "-y" and just going to Kole.  That sounds more rugged.)

High, Flying, Cooled Off Koley

My dad and me have this new game.  We call it "Throw Koley In The Fan."  I love it.  The rules are pretty self-explanatory but the picture helps I am sure.  I laugh and laugh and laugh.  And when dad puts me down and complains that his back hurts I pout and cry and climb up his legs until he picks me up and we go again!  Yay!  I love that cold fan air blowing my mullet.  It feels so refreshing. Come over and see me so we can play it together.

P.S.  What would you put as a caption for this picture?

Peace,
Koley

1st 4th

I had a kick butt Fourth of July.  Not only did the official countdown start to my first birthday (13 days!), my dad was home for a long time and boy did we par-tay!

Saturday the old man and me tried my Puffer Fish pool again.  The air outside was hot.  So hot it was hard to breathe, my arm pits were sweaty, and I had a little baby BO.  But that water in that pool was below arctic level of freezing.  I was not getting in.  I got some good snuggles out of dad though.  And check out my swimming trunks! I called Hollister to see if they needed any late season swimsuit models. After seeing my portfolio... I've got a spot next year.
We also went to Rigby Lake on Saturday.  Whoa!  Talk about a lot of water and sand and rocks and the warm sun.  It was heaven!  I did a lot of cruisin' (not only for babes) and a bit of exploring and I ate a ton of sand.  The wet sand goes down a lot easier than the dry stuff.  The dry sand will kinda make you gag.  Oh, and don't be mad at me for not having any pictures, it was Mom who forgot the camera.
Sunday I observed the Sabbath like a good boy.
Monday I went and saw the parade.  My mom got all excited to take me and dressed me in red, white, and blue.  Love that patriotism.
I had some inhibitions about the parade.  The fire trucks and police cars and sirens and horns and loud noises scared the baby poop out of me. When I saw them coming I made sad, scared faces and snuggled into my dad.  See the proof below.
Sad face.

Scared face.

Dad snuggle.
I did enjoy the bag-pipers, the marching bands, the dancing girls (a LOT) and there was a dog.  So, I am willing to give it another whirl next year.
I ended the day getting sno-cones with mom, dad, and the Grandparents Poulsen. There weren't any loud noises and since I am so cute I got to sample every one's sno-cones.  My favorite was may dad's, Mango!  Least favorite was mom's Hogwarts.

All in all my fourth rocked.
Remember to take off work for my birthday!  We're going to party it up!  I'm thinking a dog parade and a sno-cone fountain.
